These angels, who in her dreams, carried her away to paradise in their dance, this delicate porcelain couple, symbol of an idealized romantic love, and this Virgin Mary ? and this cross that accompanied her on her pilgrimage to Mariazell ? to fulfill her secret dreams.

Here they are, in my closet, gazing at me, motionless, as if awaiting something momentous. So one spring day in 2011, I took a cherub with me, submerged it in water, and photographed it.
